Opinion piece on Yahoo

Interesting piece by Larry Kramer (former CEO of MarketWatch) on the opportunity for Yahoo (side note: check out Yahoo’s new front page…really well done).

Instead of treating content as a commodity, Yahoo should hire the best and brightest editors (similar to the stated goals of WSJ and News Corp..who coincidentally also recently relaunched their home page) and aggressively build out their content offering. Yahoo should use their “energy building a first rate interactive content business” and leverage Yahoo’s amazing platforms to distribute such content in the future.

Also note-worthy is that Mr. Kramer chose the “The Daily Beast” site to opine on the state of Yahoo? This IAC site, run by Tina Brown, filters the daily zeitgeist (scene stealers and crowd pleasers) and tries to make sense of the opinions of the day.
