Interesting article in the WSJ today titled “Facebook Opens its Pages as a way to fuel growth” by Vauhini Vara (May 21, 2007; Page b1).
This is interesting for the obvious reason such as leveraging the power of the open source community and those active souls who want to build better websites, unique offerings and layer on apps to sites that already have a huge user base.
If, for example, I am a Facebook user and I want to sell something into my own niche community, this should allow that distribution outlet. Or, if I an up and coming blogger, is there an opportunity to surface my thoughts/content to my friends/community.
Sharing music and pictures are the obvious…and the applications that make sharing and delivery more robust. What about layering in a massively multipler game with the ability to create a community around Facebook users?
